In the days of June 19 – 21, Intersolar, the international trade fair of solar components and technologies, was held in Munich. Domat Control System, as one of 10 participating Czech companies, exhibited its proven PV plant monitoring system, enhanced by new features, as drivers for new inverter types, control of active and reactive power at some of them, and new functions of the ContPort portal. The PV plant monitoring system was certified by the independent certification authority TÜV SÜD as the first in the world. The certification includes data quality and storage, failure localization, graphical interface, derived parameters, maximum data processing delay, remote access, and alarming.
It was apparent that the visitors are better informed than in the previous years. Many of them already have a PV system installed, or are managing more power plants, and are aware of the fact that proper monitoring system is the basic tool for maintaining stable yields. They mostly have experience with common monitoring systems and require a flexible solution inclusive string monitoring at larger plants with central inverters. Another frequently required functionality was consumption control by switching in-house devices so that the PV generated power is always fully utilized. Thanks to lower prices of components and technologies are customers from countries like India and Turkey, where the PV business is expected to grow, oriented to island systems and self-sufficiency. Therefore, the important issue of the future is accumulation, mainly the short-term one, to compensate peak loads and night consumption.
